How to Clean The Drain In The Sink

How do you clean the drain in your sink? Cleaning the drain in the sink is an age-old problem that every family face when they move in, or have lived in family homes for decades. It is harder than cleaning a sink basin.

If you follow these steps, you’ll learn how to clean the drain in the sink very easily.

 

Boiling Water

The first and least expensive step is to use boiling water. Make sure to have a pot full of water on the stove that is boiling ready. Additionally, make sure you remove manually the amount of water in the sink while the pot full of water is boiling. After that, pour the entire pot of water on the sink. If everything remains the same, try and do it again. You can also do this at least once a weak to maintain your drain so that your drain can be clean.

Hot water is one of the best approach to clean the drain from any blockage.

Baking Soda And Salt

An effective combination you can use is use salt and baking soda. Mix 1/2 cup of each and pour out the mixture on the drain. Just like with the baking soda, make sure all the standing water has been removed. Wait for about 15 minutes then pour out boiling water. If it doesn’t work the first time, do it one more time

Baking Soda and Vinegar

A more popular combination is using baking soda and vinegar. Pour out about a cup of baking soda into the drain, with an equal amount of vinegar. Let it stay like that for an hour inside the drain, then also pour out boiling water.

Plunger

If none of the methods we have stated have not been successful in unclogging and cleaning the drain in your sink, perhaps it is time for manual method. Get a plunger and plunge firmly over the drain continuously until you the suction clear the clog. Always make sure to check to see a bit of the drain is still blocked because sometimes we might hear unclogging sounds, but nothing has changed.
